The AU men's soccer team advanced to the SAC Tournament semifinals with a 1-0 overtime victory over Queens on Friday in Anderson.

Despite the slim victory, the Trojans outshot Queens 29-7, 11-4 shots on goal.

With the score still deadlocked at 0 in the 98th minute, Agustin Ortiz placed a cross to the back of the box, allowing Harry Ward to head the winning goal into the back of the net.

"Another battle against a tough team and the boys came out on top," said coach Michael Zion. "I thought they showed a lot of character tonight. They had to keep fighting and playing for one another and they did. Now we advance on to the semifinals!"

The Trojans will look to keep advancing as they play the Coker Cobras on Nov. 12 at the Sportsplex in Matthews, N.C.

Sweeps keep comin' for the AU volleyball team. The Trojans swept league-leading Tusculum 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-23) Saturday in Anderson.

The sweep marks AU's 6th straight.

Jaelyn Grimm and Noelle Knutsen paced the Trojans offensively with 8 kills apiece.

Madison Roy did it all with 30 assists, two service aces, four digs and three block assists.

The Trojans close the regular season hosting Newberry on Tuesday (7 p.m.) and against Limestone on Friday (7 p.m.).
