The Wren volleyball team already clinched its 1st Region 1-3A title in school history last week, but there were still a few matches left to play. On Tuesday, the Hurricanes beat Pendleton 3-0 to finish the regular season 20-2-1 and 9-1 in the region.

Wren won the sets 25-19, 25-23 and 25-17. The Hurricanes will host a playoff match next Thursday, Oct. 21. The opponent will be announced next week. Pendleton’s season is over with a record of 2-14.

T.L. Hanna’s girls’ cross country team won a 6-team event at Wren on Tuesday. Madison Timms was the top finisher for the Yellow Jackets in 2nd place. Riley Nicholson came in 6th and Carson McCabe came in 13th.

The boys’ team rested its varsity runners in this match and let the JV runners compete at the varsity level for the 1st time. Carson Diggs was the top finisher in 12th place.

Powdersville volleyballremained undefeated in Region 2-3A with a 3-0 win over Blue Ridge. The Patriots clinched their 6th region title in a row with the win. They now sit at 12-9 overall and 9-0 in the region. The final match of the regular season is against Southside on Thursday.

Hanna’s volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Woodmont on Tuesday. Woodmont won the sets 28-26, 25-23 and 25-16. The teams are now tied at 2-5 for 3rd place in Region 1-5A heading into the final matches of the regular season. Hanna plays Greenville on Thursday to close out the season.

Other volleyball scores on Tuesday included Belton-Honea Path falling 3-1 to Daniel to finish the year 11-6 overall and 6-4 in Region 1-3A. Westside also lost 3-1 to Walhalla, falling to 2-5 in Region 1-4A and 5-12-1 overall.
