Board up the windows when Abbeville comes to town.

The Panthers seized control of its 45-21 victory at Belton-Honea Path in the game’s middle stages.

With 6:55 remaining in the 2nd quarter, a 2-yard touchdown by BHP’s Marquise Henderson and a 2-point conversion put the Bears up, 15-7.

From that point until 1:15 remained in the 3rd quarter, Abbeville (5-0) outscored BHP 25-0.

Game. Set. Match.

The Panthers had only 1 more 1st down. They moved more quickly.

Abbeville’s Antonio Harrison rushed for 113 yards and 3 touchdowns. As a team, the Panthers amassed 271. Zay Rayford completed only 2 passes, but one was a 37-yard touchdown to Jay Hill, and the other went for 34 to Nick Goodwin. 

Henderson led the Bears with 10 carries for 62 yards. BHP (1-3) rushed for 178 yards and passed for 83. Quarterback A.J. Henderson completed 9 of 17 passes, but 2 were intercepted.

Next up for the Bears is a visit to Pendleton (1-4) in the Region 1-3A opener.
