The rosters for the 2021 Palmetto Games baseball showcase were released on Tuesday morning, and Anderson County was well-represented.
The 2-day showcase put on by Diamond Prospects will take place on Aug. 14-15 at Riley Park in Sumter. It is considered the biggest scouting stage for South Carolina high school players and is a strict invitation-only event. The top prospects from around the state will be split up into five teams based on where they are from.
Team Northwest has five Anderson County prospects on its final roster: Jay Dillard and Brody Winter from T.L. Hanna, Conner Simpson and Matthew Slaton from Pendleton and Brody Linker from Crescent. The skipper of Team Northwest is Crescent coach Blair Carson.
The two Hanna prospects have already determined their future playing destinations — Dillard will be going to play at Clemson while Winter is committed to Newberry. The other three players have yet to make a final decision, but this showcase could be a big step in figuring that out.
For people interested in going to watch the best high school talent in the state compete against each other, an event pass is $20, a day pass is $15 and children under 10 are free.
